Liang Yi Museum is proud to present Silver Through Time, an online talk in collaboration with L'ÉCOLE Asia Pacific, School of Jewelry Arts supported by Van Cleef & Arpels as the June edition of Liang Yi Talks. In conjunction with the opening of the Museum’s new exhibition, Family Silver: Highlights from the Liang Yi Collection, the talk will explore the history and story of silver.

Since its discovery more than 5000 years ago, silver has captivated our imaginations. The discovery of the first silver mines paved the way to coinage and complex banking systems. From the mythical times of Laurium in Greece to New World deposits, silver has become a universal symbol of wealth and status.

Speakers Daniel Roberts, project director of silver archiving from Liang Yi Museum, and Mathilde Rondouin, art historian and lecturer at L’ÉCOLE Asia Pacific, School of Jewelry Arts, will guide our audiences through the career paths of silversmiths; and the creation of ornamental silver that adorned houses in the past. A virtual tour of selected highlight galleries will take place prior to the beginning of the talk.
