Stradivari Violins and the Journey of Musical Craftmanship
19-25th January, 2025
Liang Yi Museum is delighted to host a groundbreaking week-long musical and crafts exhibition in collaboration with London-based violin dealers J&A Beare Ltd. and Premiere Performances. From 19th to 25th January 2025, a selection of violins by Antonio Stradivari as well as other rare 18th-century string instruments from J&A Beare's collection will be on display. The exhibition also features 12 large prints of rare Stradivari violins, highlighting the details of their varnish.

The exhibition includes an outreach programme, with presentations and workshops for both adults and students throughout the week. Highlights include a musical comparison of instruments by different makers, both old and contemporary, with Robert Brewer Young, Head of Scientific Research and Conservation at J&A Beare.
A musical salon on Saturday 25th January - featuring international soloists using a violin that Robert will have made and finished on-site during his week at Liang Yi Museum - caps off this exhibition. In keeping with the interactive ethos of the Museum, visitors will be encouraged to handle the wood, as it is transformed from its raw state into a playable concert instrument.
Thank you for everyone’s support for our upcoming events! We reached the capacity of registration so the adult workshops and concert are temporarily full. However, the exhibition from 19 Jan to 25 Jan 10 am-5 pm is open to public, no need to register, thank you for your support and see you!
