The lecture will focus on the changing life of the Modern Woman in the early 20th century in China, and the challenges that they face in terms of self-adornment. Attendees will also have the unique opportunity of viewing some of the objects discussed in the essay during the lecture.
Dr. Sandy Ng is assistant professor of Culture & Theories at the School of Design of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She received her PhD from the School of Oriental and African Studies at University of London specialising in modern Chinese art and culture.
