80 pieces of silver were on loan to the Hangzhou Museum for the exhibition Feast: The Liang Yi Museum Silver Collection from the 18th to 20th Century, introducing these amazing works of art to a city that is historically known for being a centre of culture and craftsmanship.

Notable objects on display, include a 19th-century tray which bore Napoleon I’s coat of arms, as well as one of the most well-known of our silver pieces, a Bohemian chandelier from 1723, which was made to celebrate the coronation of Charles VI (1685-1740), the Holy Roman Emperor. This chandelier was one of the more eye-catching and august pieces shown in Hangzhou, but the more discerning visitor would have also spotted the marks of many well-known silversmiths including Benjamin Smith, Paul Storr, Robert Garrard, Asprey, Tiffany & Co, Chaumet, and Odiot.
